Chilean Pottery - Blue Monday

This event is kindly hosted by Sally at http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/

My post for Blue Monday is Hand Painted Chilean Pottery.

I like it very much because I find that yellow lemons and navy blue are a great combination.

May you all have a great Blue Monday!

Rosewater by Crabtree & Evelyn

Today is Pink Saturday. Don't forget to visit people participating at http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/

This lovely fragrance is so refreshing and femenine. I bought it in Panama's Duty Free last year in my way to Cuba.
It reminds me of vacation. One of the best sensations ever.
Happy Pink Saturday!

London Bear - Show and Tell Friday

It's Friday!!! I love Fridays!!!
You can participate in the Show and Tell event by Kelli at http://kellishouse.blogspot.com/
My show and tell of this week is my keyholder.

A cute little teddy bear that my brother-in-law gave me when he went to Cambridge to study.
This little guy can bend it's arms and legs, just like the big ones. And his shirt definitely tells us he is in love with England.
The colourful background is made with some of my scarfes. I thought it'd look nicer that way.
Well, that's my show and tell item.

Have a great weekend!!!

Make sure you visit her blog to find some georgeous tablescapes by the participants.
My only picture of a tablescape left is this one:

I was having breakfast the same day I visited Cango Caves in South Africa. You can see it at the following picture:

Yes, I look very much as a tourist with that camera, he, he.
You can find more information about Cango Caves in here.
Happy Tablescape Thursday!!!

Elephant Riding in Zimbabwe - Outdoor Wednesday

Susan at A Southern Daydreamer is the gracious hostess for Outdoor Wednesday. Participants post pictures of anything that they might find outdoors. Come join in!

My post for today is an outdoor Elephant Riding in Zimbabwe. As you can tell from the pictures, Elephant Riding is very scary since you are very high (you could touch the trees crowns!) One woman payed for the trip but couldn't do it, and regreted it when all of us came back safely.

After the trip we had the chance to feed the elephant that carried us and caress it.

Have a great Outdoors Wednesday, girls!

I've been so busy stitching roses in a towel that I don't even take the time to take a pic of it. I promise to post one soon.

Have a great day!

I'm a kitty - Show & Tell Friday

Today is Show & Tell Friday hosted by Kelly at http://kellishouse.blogspot.com/ Thanks, Kelly.

Hey! It's Friday again! I know most of you are at home enjoying Labor Day. Cool.
Well, not here in Chile. We work normally. But it's still Friday!!!

My show stuff is a cellphone holder. As you may see it's a Hello Kitty plastic figure I bought in Santiago de Chile. It costs about $4 USdollars.

Since I'm a kitty, this is my symbol. He, he, he.

My boyfriend and I have the same cellphone model.

So I got this cute kitty holder to identify my cellphone from his.

I thought it was a good idea to put it over some of my colourful scarfes.

Pictures are not very clear because I lost focus since I didn't know how to use the camera at that time. But I've learnt it, so I promise better pics in the future ;-)

Have a great Friday!!!

South Africa - Oudtshoorn Ostrich Farm - Kitty on ostrich

Today is Tablescape Thursday hosted by Susan at http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/
Don't forget to visit her blog and take a look to her elegant tablescapes. Her work is brilliant.
I don't have a tablescape to post, so I'll talk about a fun travel I made 2004 through South Africa and Zimbabwe.
Part of the Gardens Rout tour was the ostrich farm in Oudtshoorn.
You can see me riding an ostrich in the following pictures. Only people that weight under 70 kilograms can do it.
Yes, it is dangerous! Ostriches feet are strong enough to cut you in two pieces from your head to your chest.

And they are speedy animals indeed.

What was in my mind at that moment was "How in the world I got into this!?"

I was so scared but it was so fast that I could barely realized when everything finished.

Anyway, it all went fine, thanks to the help that kindly gave me the staff of the ostrich farm.

It was a rough emotions afternoon.

May you all have a great Thursday!

Shotguns Near To My Office

Image: FreeDigitalPhotos.net

About two hours ago, I heard a series of shotguns near to my office. I could not believe it!

Then I heard some whistelings and screams (kind of moby ones). Next thing I heard: ululating sirens.

I immediately let down the metal blind. I was very scared and so were my co-workers.

We work in a small street very near to Santiago Homicides Police Headquarters and to a University. It is very common to hear the students protests against Mapuches treatment by the government or anything else. But we never ever heard shotguns.

Today one of those protests seemed to become out of control and one of the students apparently threw a hand made bomb (we call it molotov bomb) into the Police Headquarters. Big mistake: chaos, struggling and shotguns. As a result, the policemen opened fire at the street in the afternoon (a little earlier than 2 p.m.).

It was frightening indeed to be in the middle of a shotgun (well fortunately not exactly in the middle). Real shotguns don't sound like in the movies but more like New Years fireworks. I wonder: how is it possible that a policeman can just open fire at any street during working hours jeopardizing civilians security in such an unwise way?

You may say "Well, how is it possible that students can just throw a molotov bomb in any street jeopardizing civilians security in such an unwise way" O.K. I agree, both are wrong. But isn't policemen duty to protect us and care for our security?

I'm atonished and furious. Anyone could get hurt besides one policeman that apparently received a blow from a stone (he is seriously ill, but the cause is still unknown).

Finally we are all O.K. but sadly Chile is still waiting for something terrible and shocking to happen before taking preventative measures.

Arica and Parinacota Outdoors

This event is kindly hosted by Susan at http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/

Well, since I live in an apartment, my outdoors for this week take place at a wonderful travel I made to North of Chile last December. Please notice the beautiful desert landscapes and the crystal clear sky. Have a great Wednesday!

8 Months - 2nd Time Around Tuesday

It is time to celebrate 2nd Time Around Tuesday!
That is a scarf that used to be my mom's, but she gave it to me. I love the color.
I'm so happy because it has been 8 months exacty since my boyfriend asked me to be his girl.
These months have been amazing. We have loved each other so much and fought too little.
I've never loved like this before. Life is great and I see little birds singing all around and hearts poping like pink bubbles, etc. He, he, he.
I started stitching again yesterday. My shoulder hurts but I stop, take a break and stitch again. My project consists of two white handtowels with little roses. I'll post a picture soon.
Have a great Tuesday, girls!
Don't forget to visit Diane at http://diane1876.blogspot.com/ for more 2nd Time Around Tuesday fun!

Blue Ring - Blue Monday

This is my favourite ring and it's light blue. I bought it here in Santiago de Chile. It is made of silver, zirconium  rounded stones and aquamarine rectangular stones.
I have it since 2003 and I use it almost everyday!
Have a great Blue Monday, girls!!!

My beloved cat

I introduce you my cat named "muchachín" (little guy).
He's going to be 11 years old on November 14th.
He loves tuna, fish and sea food, and his parties consist in laying in a very sunny spot a whole afternoon.
I think I never felt an affection like this before.
Animals give us pure love and strong loyalty like anyone else can.
I even wrote a poem in Spanish about it (http://escritosines.blogspot.com/2007/07/carita-negra.html)
Have a great Sunday!

Friday At Last!!!

Friendster Graphics
Friendster Layouts - Myspace Quotes - Myspace Surveys

As most humans, I like Friday best than every other day of the week. Well, Thursdays and Saturdays are the days I meet my boyfriend, so they are happy occasions, but our encounters do not last all day, and Friday does!!!

Have you had one of these days?

(I took it from this lovely blog: http://sweetnothingsbj.blogspot.com/)
It doesn't matter how tired you are or how awful and complicated the day turns, you'll always have a rest tomorrow.

So enjoy Friday and have a great weekend!!!

It may not be my house outdoor (since I live in an apartment, he, he, he) but I think it is a great Santiago de Chile outdoor.

This caleidoscope was bought by my sister. She loved it. But when she married and moved, she left it to me with her room. Now I can spend several minutes of relaxing caleidoscope forms viewing.

Cross My Heart - Blue Monday

This is part of the event: Blue Monday hosted by Smiling Sally http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/
There was a time when I had no professional title and I used to sell these hand towels I made.
I bought patterns and spent entire afternoons cross stitching. I really enjoyed it a lot.
These days I sit down in front of a computer screen almost all day long, so my right elbow and left shoulder suffer very much, to the point I cannot stitch or knit anymore.
