We're engaged
Yes, it's true! My sweety pie and I are engaged. We are so very happy!!!
You can see in the picture the gorgeous 0.4 carrat diamond ring he gave me yesterday in front of our parents to ask me to marry him.
It was a lovely sunny day.
And our parents made some moving toasts to wish us a happy and successful marriage.
I want to thank them, my sister, my fiancé's brother, grandparents and friends to keep secret this surprise until the last moment.
Thank you so very much.

Santiago de Chile - One of the 41 Places to go in 2011
According to The New York Times, Chile is one of the 41 places to go in 2011. I don't know if it is named in first place because of a particular reason or just at random.
Anyways, this is a great place to take a great vacation :)

Ted William, the Internet media phenomenon
Like millions of people around the world, I've been touched by the story of Ted Williams. Yesterday this 53 years old man with a magnificent radio voice was living in the streets. But thanks to a video by The Columbus Dispatch (watch it here) posted on 3rd January 2011, he is got the chance to be the official voice of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
You can find some interviews and his appereance on the news in the following links:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYsEnISr7KU
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzhTB0VwV-s
His mother was absolutely shocked by his sudden rise to fame. Read the full story in here. Please notice the before and after of a good haircut. He wanted to go to New York to see his mother but he couldn't because of the lack of a proper ID (details in here).
I feel so moved by his humbleness and I'm so very happy for him :)

Pool Season
Here in Chile is currently very hot, c.a. 88° F. And Summer is beginning today!
It was kind of hot yesterday also, and I had the first refreshing swim of the season at my sister's pool, which was entirely available just for me. It was delicious!
I love pools painted in aquamarine. Water looks so clear. Actually I love that color in jewelry, clothes, furniture, and almost everything.
There I was. Floating in the middle of the quietness of a Sunday afternoon. Just looking at a georgeous perfectly unclouded sky, and deeply engrossed in my ruminations.
Suddenly, the past attacked me, and I remembered all of the Summers that I used to go to "Baños El Corazón" pool. A very big pool at a thermal baths venue in Chile. I spent entire afternoons in the water, just fooling around with my cousins.
I remind that going to the pool was always an occasion to celebrate, and we felt it was a time for party. What a nostalgia!
Have a great week :)

Lovely Vintage Xmas Music
As you may have noticed from my last posts, I hate buying presents and watching people go nuts in this season. But it is always comforting to listen to oldies. They remind me movies like IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE where Jimmy Stewart stole my heart, and a young Bing Crosby in WHITE CHRISTMAS. Adorable!
While people fight for gift paper at the stores, I strongly recommend smiling and listening to lovely vintage Xmas music at HOLIDAY CLASSICS
That is my favourite December radio station, so I wanted to share it with you. Don't stress and enjoy!

Crapstmas
Well, I don't particularly like this season of the year. Since everybody is stressed and running to buy presents, you can feel the tension in the air. Besides, my grandmother died on 24th December 2003.
I think the best way to face all the compromises and office festivities is ignoring them and acting as natural as always. Don't rush, don't panic, don't do much, just apply the minimum effort rule and everything is going to be smoother.
I hate the "duty" of being perfect in this season. Lovely decorations, perfect dinner, exact present for each one are way too out of the reach of a normal human being. I think the best way to go is to relax and enjoy!
Have a nice crapstmas :)

Happy Birthday, my sweetie's dad!!!
Today, my sweetie's dad was born. It's his birthday!
Generally, I havent had close relationships with any of my former boyfriend dads, but mostly with their moms. But this time it is different: I really appreciate this gentleman.
Since he studied in Paris, France, we started conversations related to French culture since almost the minute we meet, and we talk a lot (I studied French language because of my work). And although my boyfriend says his dad is not a great talker -specially concerning his work- we usually have never ending conversations about the factory he runs.
I admire this man because his modesty and simple way of life. Even being a man with a great position, he is not a sophisticated person, and never looks anyone over his shoulder (as we say in Chile). He knows his job and he performes it correctly.
I've heard he is a great boss. He sacrifices his vacation for his workers to have theirs. He is fair and worries about his workers wellness.
I wish him a so very happy birthday from the deepest bottom of my heart!!!
